Welcome to ‘The Cracking Bean’, we are a small batch artisan coffee roasting company based in the heart of Buckinghamshire.

Our core offering is a monthly premium roast selection of three single origins from across the world’s finest coffee producing estates. These change on a monthly basis giving you the opportunity to explore regular new origins and keep supplies fresh.

For those that like stability or maybe seeking a stronger/darker coffee, some cracking blends and limited editions are in development and will be launching soon - watch this space.

To ensure optimum freshness, we don’t stock or store roasted coffees instead we ‘roast to demand’ - generally roasting a few times a week to our own in house recipes.

Meet Dan, that’s me, the founder, head roaster and Chief General of all things (photo inbound).

I have been in and around the coffee industry pretty much all my life, my parents launched a coffee vending business back in the 80s. I joined the venture in the early 2000s where we saw a huge change in the industry moving from really basic instant coffee offerings to the higher expectations of fresh bean to cup we now see. The business modernised its offerings and was eventually absorbed into a national company (the parents retired), I as part of the deal worked with the parent company for a number of years before moving on into a sideline of roasting.

Roasting has essentially been a hobby for a number of years now supplying friends and family, however as my experience and capacity has increased, the time has now come to launch a formal business offering - The Cracking Bean is born - And to fit in, I’ve also grown a beard and have dreams of one day retiring into the life of a coffee roasting aficionado cowboy hipster on a ranch somewhere way out west.

We are a young and small business, costs are high, business is tough and margins are tight however I try to keep pricing down as low as is reasonably possible whilst maintaining quality - as we are not a bulk commercial operation, we can focus on providing fresh speciality products.
