Are your Coffees sustainably sourced?
We try our best to source sustainably certified products prioritising Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance, but also include origins promoting social initiatives. All products will detail relevant certifications and initiatives.
What’s the best way to store my Coffee?
Firstly, buy whole beans! Wholebeans can maintain their freshness for up 5 times longer than pre ground Coffee as once ground, oils and flavours are quickly released.
Once roasted, coffee beans are best left for a few days prior to grinding and drinking, this will allow the complex flavours and oils to settle - like a fine wine, the Beans will mature and their flavour profile will change throughout the process.
Beans should be stored in a container that has a one way valve to allow off gassing, kept in a cool dry, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources or contaminants such as strong foods or spices.
Can you grind my beans for me?
Sorry, No, not at the moment. We are focussed on quality and freshness - by pre grinding we would be reducing the life span and quality of our product, as such we encourage you to buy wholebeans as it’s the best way to enjoy the freshest coffee when you grind on demand at home. We are looking at providing some discounted at home grinders to help, watch this space!
What’s the best before date?
As a general guide, beans will be at their best anything from around 7-14 days after roasting and best used within 8 weeks, although if stored well will last for months.
All of our beans have a 3 month ‘Best Before Date’ from point of roasting, however Coffee beans are classed as herbs and spices which allows a 2 year use by date - this lengthy date is used by average shop bought bean producers and as such they can be fairly old by the time you use them.
